Compairing the messages and forms of persuasion in this Blog:
- The two messages show you the negative things that can happen to a person's face and to the man's favorite organ: this compairs wrinkles and erectile disfunction, two very negative things in modern society, with the smoking of cigarettes, thus making a negative association with smoking.
- By showing the very familiar no smoking sign over and over again, the hope is that the repetition of the image, and it's popularity will make it stick out in viewers minds.
- The next section shows how subliminal advertising in popular movies might effect the populations oppinions on smoking on average. If subliminal advertising worked the movies would be an easy way to feed the messages to the public.
- The message featuring Jessica Simpson shows how celebrities use their popularity to speak out against smoking, thus people who admire Jessica Simpson or perhaps just like to look at her, would be less inclined to smoke since she doesn't.
- The last post featuring Johnny Carson and Peter Jennings shows that many famous people have died from smoking, this shows people that no one is invulnerable to cigarettes despite money, fame, and power. If people see that smoking killed these men then they may, themselves be inclined to quit.
