History

6000 bc : Tobacco started growing in America
1000 bc : people began to smoke the leaves of the plant
1914: During WWI smoking became popular on the battlefields and the ciggarette became known as "soldiers smoke"
1950: They found a link between lung cancer and smoking which was published in the Brittish Medical Journal, it was researched by Professor Richard Doll and A. Bradford Hill.
1964: It was announced that smoking does cause lung cancer and the UK government banned ciggarettes from TV
1965:The federal cigarrette labeling and advertising act requires a US Surgeon General's warning on every cigarrette
1970: Cigarettes banned from TV in America
1973: The create non-smoking sections on airlines
1988: The Surgeon General concludes that nicotine is an addictive drug
1992: Nicotine patches are introduced
1993: VT became the first US state to ban cigarrette smoking from all public places
1995: NY Passes the smoke free air act and strengthens the clean indoor air act
2003: NY bans smoking in public places
